It All Begins with the Nest

While dreaming about this practice, one image stayed with me: a nest.

Over time, the heart of Nido began to take shape.

In Spanish, nido means nest. It is a place of shelter, belonging, growth, and new beginnings. It is where life is nurtured before taking flight.

I realized that communication begins in much the same way.

Long before children speak their first words, they are learning to communicate. They learn through loving eyes, familiar voices, playful moments, shared routines, and the quiet confidence that someone is listening.

Communication begins in connection.

For more than thirty years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside young children and their families in homes, hospitals, clinics, early intervention programs, and schools. Across every setting, one truth has remained constant: children make their greatest progress when families feel supported, understood, and included.

That is the heart of Nido.

Communication is about so much more than words. It is about sharing ideas, building relationships, expressing needs, discovering joy, telling stories, and connecting with the people who matter most. Parents and caregivers are at the heart of that journey. You know your child better than anyone else, and together we build on the strengths that already exist within your family.

Every child develops in their own way, and every family has a unique story. We begin by listening, building trust, and creating a plan that feels natural for your child and your everyday life. Our goal is to support communication where it grows best through play, daily routines, meaningful conversations, and shared experiences.

Whether your child is saying their first words, learning to communicate in one language or many, or simply needs a little extra support, we hope your family feels welcomed, respected, and encouraged. Here, questions are welcomed, progress is celebrated, and relationships come first.
